ELECTRIC GUITAR STRINGS
Pyramid has been making strings since 1850, and offer strings for nearly every stringed instrument made. After a 25 year absence, Pyramid Strings were finally made available in the U.S. again in 1995. These are exact to the specs they used originally from the late `40's thru the 1960's. Flatwound Pyramid Gold's are the tone of The Beatles and many other early 60's British Beat groups. They are the only strings I'd consider putting on my own instruments.
All Pyramid Strings are handcrafted in Bubenreuth, Germany using the finest materials available. They are made exactly the same way as electric guitar strings were made in the 50s and 60s, utilizing a round core. The core wires and plain strings are silver-plated German steel, not the usual, cheap tin-plated hex core most string makers switched to in about 1970 in an attempt to ‘lock’ the wrap onto the core for less defective wound strings. Unfortunately, the net result was thinning down the tone and sound of the strings considerably. This is what we are all used to hearing and playing these days… Until NOW! Round core constructed strings offer better harmonics, longer string vibrations, better tone and longer life. Pyramid’s pure nickel roundwound strings sound warmer and fatter than any other strings available anywhere and offer 5-8 times more life than the rest as they roar with a twang and an attitude made to the original specs from back in the golden age of rock and roll.
Also available now are the Bronze wound round core acoustic "Pyramid Western Folk" strings. They are reminiscent of the strings from '50's & '60's country music.
They come in numerous iterations in the six as well as 12 string sets; they have been the stock string on Hofner basses since they were introduced in 1956. MONEL STRINGS Monel is the missing link in Vintage Tone. Prior to Pyramid’s re-introduction of them, there had not been any Monel strings for electric guitars manufactured since 1970 after Gibson’s "Mona Steel" & "Sonomatic" strings (made from Monel Steel during the 50's & 60's) went out of production. Monel steel is comprised of 67% pure nickel, 23% pure copper & 10% iron. These strings have the warmth of nickel, with a little midrange growl and attitude added in. The attack is quick and snappy, and, amazingly, they last even longer than the pure nickel strings. I think you'll find the "Monel Classics" are the answer to your vintage tone quest. As with all Pyramid strings, the core wires and plain strings are made from silver-plated German steel. |

GYPSY JAZZ STRINGS
The Gypsy Jazz strings come in the original package design from the early 60's. They are packed in glassine envelopes inside a plastic pouch. .011-.050 and .012-052 sizes are available.
